Annual Retreat at Namdroling Monastery

2008: No one-month retreat will be held at the South Indian Monastery. Please attend the retreat in the United States, which will be held July 10 to August 10 and provides thorough teachings and translation.

Every year Namdroling Monastery carries through a 30-day retreat offered to the monastic population and local lay practitioners.

The retreat course includes Ngondro, Tsa Lung Tummo Inner Heat Yoga, and Dzogchen.

The retreat is open to international students only with the permission of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche (this includes Ngondro).

Other notes:

* The practice sessions are held in tents on the bare ground, partially exposed to the elements including extreme sun and rain.
* Translation, when available, may not be completely reliable and is given after, not during, the teachings. Participants may need to request the monastery staff to arrange a translator as the staff may not be aware of the need.
* The PAP form described in the Visiting Namdroling section of Palyul.org is mandatory.
* Completion of one retreat does not guarantee advancement to the next retreat. Advancement is up to the discretion of the retreat master.

The retreat courses are held during the hottest time of the year in South India, so participants should be prepared for hardships including a lack of water during parts of the retreat. Female students will be required to participate in the Tsa Lung course with the nuns in the nunnery.

As this retreat is primarily geared towards the monastic population. It is recommended that international students strongly consider the retreat in Upstate New York as there are many more conveniences and excellent concurrent translation for that program.
