His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, a teacher renowned for his tremendously compassionate activity, has created exactly the right environment for anyone to work with their hearts, truly a special opportunity for Western people who would like to enter the stream of practice in Buddhist traditions. In 1998 he established a retreat center in upstate New York, far from the distractions of modern life.

About the 2008 Flier
This year we opted for a design that included a bit more of the environment of the retreat. You will see at the bottom of the inside page that we've placed a strip of photos showing scenes from the 2006 and 2007 retreats. Most of these photos were shot by Reuter's photographer, Mannie Garcia, as a donation for the center. Other photos in the flier were shot by Wib Middleton and Yeshe Dorje.

Personal Retreats

The Palyul Retreat Center is now offering the possibility for practitioners to utilize the retreat center during the off-season for personal retreats. This is in accordance with the wishes of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche who understands the difficulty of maintaining daily practice in the West. It is a source of joy for His Holiness to know that the center is being used for practice and accumulations during the time outside of our formal month-long retreat.
